Truck wont start in Des Moines, Ia

My truck ran out of fuel, now it wont start, I added diesel to the tank and added diesel to the fuel bowl, I can hear the pump running but I cant get the truck to start! It has ran out of fuel before and I haver been able to prime it but I cant get it to work this time. I have fixed the sending unit on it before but it still seems to run out of fuel even though I know it still has some in the tank. The tack does jump when I crank and it wants to start but wont. I am in Ankeny, Iowa i am here working on the VA and have limited tools and no one to help me, im from Dallas, can anyone please tell me what to look for i need to get to work on monday, thanks in advance

what year truck? You should be able to just cycle the key 6 times and that should be enough to prime it.

2000 F-250 7.3L with 128,000 miles

Truck finally started, it had air in the lines, i purged the fuel bowl and cycled the key six times, after several attempts it started.
