I've already scanned it with a cheap scan tool. It said there were no codes. I'm at a loss not sure what to do next without spending a lot of money!

Honestly you wanna get the truck scanned and figure out whats keeping the injectors for firing. Theses trucks need to meet certain conditions in order to start up. The high pressure oil needs to be 500+ PSI i believe, Fuel pressure needs to be right, the engine needs to be spinning at a certain speed before the injectors will even fire, a scan tool would tell you which parameter is not meeting the requirments.

I'm waiting for a scan tool. It should be here tomorrow. I hooked a fuel pressure gauge to the schrader type valve on the what I think is a pressure regulator on the side of the fuel bowl. It showed a little over 10psi. I know the fuel pump is a two stage and works at 10 and 40 psi I'm just not sure what it's supposed to be reading at that point I hooked into.

fuel pressure?

Does anyone Know what the fuel pressure should be at the schrader valve on the side of the regulator on a 7.3 powerstroke?

Fuel pressure spec is 30 to 80 psi at full throttle, full load, cranking I would expect to see anything within that range. you'll need a scan tool that gives you enhanced data capabilty, code readers stink! auto enginuity is an excellent tool for the 7.3. it gives you near professional capabilty.

the data you need to look at in a no start on a 7.3 PSD are ICP=injection control pressure, and I like to see injector pulse width to see if PCM/IDM is commanding fuel. this tool also gives you the ability to perform KOEO,KOER,Cyl.Contribution, injector buzz, as well as PATS programming and communication with other systems in later models, hope this helps

The Dealership

I took it to the dealer they said it was a short at the IPR connector. I told them they could repair it. Six hours later they call me and tell my PCM is bad because they couldn't communicate with it anymore. I declined repair because of cost over a thousand dollars. I had it towed home where I noticed I had no WTS light anymore. So I opened the hood and sure enough a blown 20a fuse #9 for the PCM. I replaced it and my WTS light is back. Unbelievable! they didn't check the fuses and just assume the PCM is bad. If I would have caught it at the dealership I would of had them scan it again. I'm glad I didn't pay for them to do the work it would have cost me over a thousand dollars to replace a $3 fuse and still not have a running truck!
The truck still doesn't run though I was thinking of replacing the IPR because this is where the short was or buying my own scanner and starting there. I'm pretty reluctant to take it to the dealer again they wanted $325 for me to get it back last time and they misdiagnosed it. Luckily I didn't pay for their mistake.
