Just a thought here..may be something...may not be. since the engine in this thing has a build date of 99 (and the vehicle is an 03) when they replaced the IPR, they would have assumed, like I did, that it was an 03 engine. I read here that when replacing the IPR, it needs to match the build date/serial number of the engine??? is there really that much difference and could that be the root cause of these problems??

Howard,

I had thought about suggesting this before..

BUT... I have an idea..

Since you are so far away, etc... and we are all on computers doing net diagnosing.. Do you have a digital camera that will take videos with sound? Or a digital video camera?

If so, well, get someone to ride with you. Record the cold start of the engine, drive away, full throttle operation, idle, exhaust noise, idle and revving, external drive away, etc etc.., and also when it acts up, most definetely record that. Engine noises, exhaust smoke color (if any) as well as, also when it acts up, also again, record the exhaust noise.

Just throwing out ideas here, but since I still have yet to hear any sounds from the turbo, is it possible that if it was sticking( ie siezing up) and stopped spinning, could that cause a P1211 code and loss of power?

Howard,

Again and we've suggested this several times...

Take off the intake tube at the turbo, and spin the turbine, if, when you flick the wheel with your finger if it spins for several seconds, then the turbo itself is not the problem. If it stops quickly(like you spinit and it doesnt even make a full revolutuion) doesnt move at all, rubs the housing, or, when you grab the turbine wheel, and grab it, and try to move it around, if it has more than a tiny amount of movement, then also suspect turbo.

Why dont you get pictures of your set-up, (the engine compartment) a video(as i suggested above) and upload it somewhere, you can even upload it here.


And yes.. the turbo would cause a loss of power.. if it has issues..


Bar-None, I think the best thing for you to do right now, considering we're all on computers smacking our heads together, is to get a video of the truck, and it's symptoms.

Hi I have a 99 e350 and after changing a sh*t load of parts I dropped the tank and found the "socks" were all clogged (It caused 3 injectors to starve to death)
Just a thought
