injectors and egr codes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have 2004 f-350 6.0L with codes for cylinder # 2,4,5 contribution test. egr codes 407 and 488 . Does anyone know what the codes mean? And how should go about checking them. I have not worked on a 6.0L before but have do work on 7.3L's. |

If you have multiple injector codes for contribution, there's a good chance you either have or had low fuel pressure at some point. Fuel filters are the most common source, but fuel pump can be an issue as well as fuel tank vent being plugged. Check fuel pressure under full load, should be somewhere around 45psi min. I believe. The EGR valve is likely opening on its own. The original design has been updated.
Hope you haven't damaged the injectors yet with low fuel pressure. |
