new truck

hey guys coming over here from the DTR. I just sold my cummins to get a crew cab. I ended up with a early 99 and by that i mean the date on the motor is 6/98 and truck build date is 10/98. The sticker on the right valve cover reads 250hp. So anyways thinking of DP tuner, diy intake, guages, adn trans cooler to start off with in no particular order. Also i have a key fob that came with the truck. The guy i purchased it from said it has never been programmed. ANY IDEAS!!!I cannot find any theft light anywhere on the truck or blinking red light. The truck is a crew cab 99 xlt 4x4 with 146k on the ticker by the way. Lots of great info on here so far. ALso thought you guys would like to know that my dad has an early 99 with 330k on the ticker still going strong. I will try to get some pics of both on here before long. Any suggestions on a leveling kit would be greatly appreciated also. thanks

If it's a stock Ford fob, I believe you turn the key to the on spot somewhere between 4-7 times(you'll know when all the locks go on you) and then press the a button on the fob. That should program the fob for you. One of my buddies used to work at Ford and that's how he did his 01 F150 key fob.

yea i tried that a while ago i had read it on here somewhere but it still did not work. I will try again though. It is a ford fob so should work any more ideas greatly appreciated.

I found this thread while searching for key fob info, I also have an early '99 superduty, it has power locks, and I would like to get a keyfob remote for it if it will work... I have heard that as long as it has power locks, all you gotta do is get some fobs from ebay, or where ever, and program them, and you're set... is this true?

My wife lost the fob to her F150, ordered one off eBay for $32, it came with programming instructions...took 2 minutes and done. Wasn't a "Ford" fob either.

Cool, thanks for the reply... that's good to know, I've checked Ebay, found a pair for abuut $20, but my biggest question is if this is true for the early '99 superduty trucks, and not just the later model year trucks...

Just because it has power locks doesn't mean it has remote keyless entry. My e99 has power locks but no module for keyless. The best way I know to find out is to take the radio out and see if there is a black box mounted to the firewall. If it has one you can program the fob by turning the key to the run position then off 8 times. On the 8th time leave key in run position and the locks should lock then unlock.
