You won't get a code for a battery light. Could be anything from bad bats to bad alt or blown fuse. You have a meter?

test your bateries and alternator.

the little plug on the alternator is for the gauge and warning light. one time on my truck the insulation on the wire sripped off and was shorting out makin my gauge go nuts. a little electrical tape fixed it up but first I would check into the things that the gague/light is spose to warn you about arent bad.

I thought the battery light only came on when the alternator is not charging.
