Question Project: INTAKE

i have a full 1999+ Ford factory AIS, since i have an early 99, is there any way i can swap my early 99 filter box, with the newer box (after trimming) and cutting hole for fender air to flow in, and the air from behind the grille, and somehow use an aftermarket cone filter?? or is it a dumb idea?

thanks, I think the biggest problem is getting the filter in the box, while still keeping it attached to the intake tube, because it has to keep the air filtered before the tube
