Fuel delivery system
I read somewhere (on another site) that the fuel delivery system on the 94 to 99 PSDs is different than the later 7.3s. By including the 99 I took that to mean the early 99s were similar to the older models but is this true or is the author confused and should have said the 94 to 97 fuel delivery system is different than the later 7.3?
My real question then is whether or not the fuel delivery system on my early 99 (built Sept 98) is the same as the later 99 - 03. I know the injectors and HPOP are a different size but any other differences? |

I'm pretty sure the early 99s are part of the later build gang when it comes to the basic fuel system. I just learned the other day, for example, that the OBS 7.3s have a fuel lift pump [i]under[i] the turbo..now that's different from the early 99s on up instead of the pump on the frame. I've seen the fuel bowl on the older 7.3s and it is different as well. |

as was said....94-97 had lift pumps.....99 and newer have electric fuel pumps... The high pressure oil systems in both are pretty much the same.....the pumps were slightely different and the older ones are capable of as much pressure with modifications but they are basically the same design as far as the overall system goes... |

Thanks for the info. What I had been reading elsewhere was referring to a mechanical pump situated on top of the enging so it must have been the lift pump on the older trucks he was referring to.
