I removed a plug in the front top corner of the passenger side head and put a 45 degree JIC fitting in it and ran a hose over to the engine hoisting bracket and attached a sending unit to it. The fitting is kinda hard to get to between the fuel bowl and head. The one mentioned above might be easier or better to use, I just wanted to know the actual pressure at the head.
Here is a pic of the back of the fuel bowl on my early 99

Scroll down to the last page in this writeup to see where to pipe in the fuel gauge on the back of the fuel bowl.

The fitting on the bowl is a #4 O ring boss. Nice pic Froggie.

Could that same hole be used as a return in a flow through fuel system? I'm trying to think of how to do a flow through set up (from the rear of the heads to the front) using the factory fuel bowl and regulator.

If you run lines from the bowl to the heads it will only be putting fuel into both ends of the heads. The fuel bowl does not have a compartment that the return system flows into. The fuel bowl is pressurized and the extra pressure is bled off. So if you just put a set of lines into the bowl it will feed all the ports with fuel and will still return the fuel from the bowl to the tank.

If you want a flow through system, you need a regulated return system like the one available from ITP Diesel.
