Early 7.3 high mileage....is she still worthy

I have a question for all you powerstroke/truck masters.....

I have an early 99 with 305,000km (189,000 miles). I have a 3" leveling kit, 33's, 4" turbo back magnaflo exhaust and a no name "cold air" intake on her. I keep up with more then regular maitence on it except for the transmission fluid changes because of the horror story's of them letting go after you change high mileage transmissions oil.

Lately I have noticed her getting a little sluggish. I know I need to replace my glow plugs(horrible starts in not very cold starts) and I have a new relay. To my knowledge that is the only thing she needs.

A friend o mine gave me a bully dog 6 position chip but I'm also scared to install that cuz I'm afraid of the trouble that could cause with the higher mileage on the truck.

Am I being a pussy and is she still worthy of sinking some money into her and juicing up the hp&torque or should I be thinking about a new rig?? Thanx for any info

👍

189000 is not bad on a 7.3. When I bought mine (last truck I had) it had a little more than that. It was a great truck and had an edge chip. Lots of power. ( well it felt like it to me). 7.3s are a great platform. If its feeling sluggish it could possibly be your trans though. They are not quite as great as the engine.
