Interchange ?

i was wondering if the hard parts like block, heads and internals on the 7.3 were the same through the years. i have a early 99 and could get my hands on a 96 engine for parts.
Also what tranny do i have, e4od or ? any info greatly apreciated.

i think the answer is yes, but not entirely sure. Ford changed the design on a lot of other things though. Turbo, intercooler, injectors, computer and a few other nick nack stuff.

along the same lines, i think all of the IDI block were the same as well.

I just put a new performance trans in my early 99 f250 and its a 4R100 weather its aftermarket or stock. As far a engine block and heads I believe they are the same as the late 99 to 03 but won't work on 97 and earlier.

early99-03 all had the 4R100. E4OD was in the 94-97. The blocks and heads are interchangeable. Only some of the other parts are interchangeable.
