XLE8 Upgrade or not

I currently have my injectors at Rosewood's getting some 160/100 made and then I will be doing a D66 turbo along with some other supporting mods. I was doing some research on the different PCMs and I found alot of older threads from a couple years back that said to upgrade to a 2000 or 2001 PCM. Is this still something that you should look at doing or is it not really valid anymore with today's tuning. I will be having PHP do the tuning and I have the option to pick up a PMT2 locally for $100 and didnt know if I should do that now or just tune for the XLE8

Dont know about automatics because i know there are certain things to make them shift better/ firmer and whatnot, but when i asked tuners about updating my pcm in my e99 6 speed, they told me not to waste my time. Hopefully someone else can chime in that knows more about autos.
Hope this helps
