Anyone have any idea if DP Tuner tunes are different for an early 99 compared to a late 99? Considering different injectors and turbo...? UPDATE: I talked to Jody at DP Tuner, and he told me he doesn't program the tunes differently for an early 99. same tunes as 99.5+ (at least for my truck which has intake/exhaust and is otherwise stock). He also let me know that for in-town driving i can turn off the overdrive and it will keep the TC locked in third gear down to 28 mph. Normally it comes unlocked right about 35 mph. It's an option for smoother driving in stop and go traffic when speed limit is near 35 mph. Jody communicated with me via email and he was prompt. I like dealing with DP Tuner. Dave - i picked up the PMT1 ECM right before getting the DP chip. The PMT1 alone made a big difference in the way my truck ran. DP Tuner asked me during the initial order of my chip about which ECM I had, but the early 99 physical factors of smaller injectors and different turbo make no difference to Jody. What's the most suspicious cause (besides RIGHT FOOT) of a truck not having an increase in fuel economy after the addition of intake/exhaust and a chip? I'm trying to keep my foot out of it so that I can see what mpg gain I might get. I haven't seen a loss in fuel economy, and I feel the power even when going lightly, I just want to check the obvious places to make sure i'm up to snuff. I know my boots are leaking a little bit, I see the oily black residue pinpoints coming back a week after I cleaned them, but would that make a big diff? New tranny about 10K ago. Stock tire size, and I keep them about 65 lbs. Comments? Smart remarks?

The main areas to check for are boost leaks for sure. If you haven't already done so, consider doing the CCV mod in order to keep the oily residue out of your CAC tubes and boots. Also look at your up pipes where it meets the collector at the turbo for leaks. You'll see soot around the collectors. This has a significant impact on mileage and EGTs. Chris |

Completely stock my truck got 14-15 mpg, over 4 years and tons of mods, including an engine rebuild, she has held between 13-15 mpg. Now she is hovering around 14.5. I do stomp it often and drive hard so I figure I done pretty good getting all that extra power and smoke while not loosing too much mileage. So far I can’t find the mythical silver bullet for mileage. |

before my tw chip, my superchip allowed me to average 17.5-18 mpg
now with the tw, i'm trying to get more than this, however i'm still playing too much |
