no a 99-03 dp will work just fine. i have a early 99 with a 4 inch dp. good luck and enjoy the sound

The only reason some places do not sell a turbo back kit for the early 99 is because of the cat. If the cat runs away, then a 4" turbo to tail will work, no problem. Just be careful with the sawzall when you cut the down pipe to get it out. It should take a couple of hours.

My cat got scared of my Ausie and has never been seen again.
