Injector cups

Guess I'll be doing injector cups on my early bird- 11/98 if I remember right. Here's an interesting post by eaton on a handmade tool for the job. Any pointers on other parts I should replace while I'm in there? GPs? Trucks got 152K on the clock. I've had to do nothing to it except oil changes, alternator re-build, batteries, and 1 GPR in last 5 years/60K miles.

I would get new O rings and copper crush washers for your injectors.

since i did all eight cups, i did buy eight o-ring kits from ford. i did not touch my glow plugs because they seemed fine and if i need to i can change them out in about an hour. My truck does seem to run alot stronger than before and my mileage has increased! Like i said this is not that big of deal to do. I would do them all day every day for what the shop charges! good luck and if i can help hit me up.

Well, the install has not happened yet, I have not even made the tool duplicate yet that Eaton sent to me-thanks for your patience!

I was losing coolant at a slow sip, and a couple of the injectors were getting noisy-almost like noisy piston rings on a dirt bike, if you know what that sounds like. However, in the meantime, the truck has needed a front end brake job, again, shocks, new rear diff. cover and fluids, and EBPS sensor/tube/manifold connector. I've also been laid off from my job, so I'll have some time to get at the rest of this stuff-first is to get the tools made so I can send them back to the guy who borrowed em to me-thanks again Eaton.

I think this injectors/cups problem started after I did a little experimentation with burning waste oil as fuel; used Amsoil synthetics to be exact. I'm no scientist, AND I have not pulled the injectors/cups yet, but I'm guessing that synthetic waste oil burns at a much higher temp. and creates too much compression for the injectors/cups to handle over the long run. Maybe at 154K miles she's just ready for the fresh injectors and cups? I'm getting there...
