The location of the badges can give it away. If it is on the fender then it is an early99 BUT it is not always the case. My early99 had them on the door. My build date is 11-20-98 and I know mine is an early99.

My truck was built in 11 of 98 and my badges are on the door. Also, I have a cruise light, never knew it till about 2 months ago. It just started working. Do I have a mutt?

It will depend on the factory intake filter housing you have. If it pulls air from the fender then I do not believe it will fit.

If it pulls air from the front through a square plastic tube along side of the battery then it should fit.

First off, are you the origional owner?

Have you looked to see what the PCM code is on your computer?

I have been told by the tuner boys that the early99 PCM does not have the componants in it to control the cruise light. That is why those with the early99 truck that up grade the PCM see the cruise light for the first time.

Very interesting......

I'm not the originial owner. It started working about a month after I installed my dp tuner. I know it never worked before. Not a real big deal but I think there's a few other things my truck has that seems like it's a mix of early and regular 99 trucks.

The early99 trans fluid does not go through the radiator unless the radiator has been changed. The fluid only goes through the trans cooler in front and below the radiator. It is very small.

Intake options

I have an early 99 build date 5/98. The fresh air is pulled through the front of the truck through a tube not the fender. What are my intake options. thanks.
