Ok I was looking around today. I believe my truck is a 3/98 truck not sure though

1. Mine says 250 on the valve cover, so I have the special H.O. right?
2. I do have 2 hard manual transmission lines going into the radiator.

And thats all I can remember.

Has anyone upgraded the track bar on an early 99 to the late style? Reason I ask is I want to do a leveling kit eventually and most guys recommend and adjustable track bar with a level kit to keep things lined up right. Trouble is nobody makes an adjustable bar for an early. I'd like to go to F350 blocks in the rear and all spring leveling kit when I get around to doing it eventually.

I drilled out the holes on the bracket on the axle to accept the larger bolt and used a drop bracket for a 99.5 when I put on my 4" lift using a new 99.5 track bar.

So just order a 99.5 kit, drill out the hole on the axle and buy a couple larger bolts? Sounds perfect, thanks!

Not that easy amigo. The U bolts on the axle are different, they are square on the early bird where the 99.5 is round. The two will not properly safely work together. I did a hog podge kit with parts laying round the local 4wheel parts to make my kit.

Ah yes I forgot about the U-bolts being different. I wonder what the chances are I could get the U-bolts without cutting them so they could be re-used, or would they even be long enough with the new spring packs? I don't imagine a couple U-bolts could be that expensive anyways, the hard part for me will be finding them locally.

That is it.

Unless you just want to get the updated track bar. Then you use the track bar bracket that came with the kit and get a new track bar for a 99.5-03, 7.3 diesel. You will have to get new bolts and drill the bracket out on the axle to fit the larger bolt for the newer track rod. It is a good idea to dry fit all this before you go and drill anything out just to make sure it all lines up right.
