early 99 starting rough

My truck has started rough inconsistent. Some days perfect other days it misses and smokes but clears up 20 seconds later. I replaced the fuel pump on the frame rail it didnt make a difference also the glow plugs. It cranks fast like it should. The truck runs perfect after that 20 second fit it throws. And starts the way it should all day just the initial morning start. Anybody have any ideas?

Thank you

Need to monitor ICP, IPR, and fuel pressures possibly on start up.

Would a edge cts help me with this? What would be preferred the truck has 390k on it if that helps diagnose it.

are they original injectors, inspect fuel return valve for torn or worn o-rings, did you replace the relay with the glow plugs?
