Looking at Buying higher milage E99
Hey guys, new to 7.3 not diesel though. I'm looking @ a E99 build date 04/98 with 300k on it 6spd all stock never been modded.2wd Dually /w gooseneck. But guy that had it now hasn't towed anything with it he has been driving it for last 20k-25k miles.
No problems since he had it. Rode in truck 30+ miles doesn't pull, shutter or feel funny when goin through gears. Anyways my question is with that many miles What should be a concern even not knowing what has been/not been done to truck? Everything?? LOL all reg. maint. has been up to date on truck. From what we know. What is a problem on higher milage trucks i guess is what I'm asking? And is there alot of E99 with that high of milage? Thanks Guys, G. |

just to clarify, it is a powerstroke diesel correct. i have a psd e99 with 292000 miles and it starts and runs like it only has 100k miles. if it starts and runs nice then all you really have to look out for is front end wear and the rear diff. and leaf springs i had to do those on mine when i got it. may i ask how much does this guy want for the truck?

mines got just shy of 300k and it's an auto, I just replaced the turbo on it, and other stuff that didn't NEED done, but while I had it apart I just did it (glow plugs and o-rings and such) runs like a champ and will still pulls like it did at 180k when I got it... if the price is right I wouldn't be scared of it...

No rust truck just common dings and scrapes. So that a rarity up here. Can buy for $4500. What yall think?

I'd see if he had any maintenance records, maybe have the compression checked... But with out seeing and trusting it and the guy selling it... It's your comfort level with your purchase you don't want to fall into a money pit of his old problems but for 4500 you could almost part it out and make your money back...
