Early 99 with 2002 motor what pcm should I use?
Hey guys! never posted but I have gotten tons of help from this forum! I have an early 99 that I just put a 2002 powerstroke motor into. I feel like I could be getting a lot more power with a new computer. Is that the case? and which computer would be the best DAC3 or XPC4? Am I on the right track?
Thanks, Jacob |

Well its an early truck with a late model motor, why dont you take the pcm outta the 2002 truck and trade it with your e99's? The older pcm may not be able to read everything the new motor is putting out, so in my opinion you should really put a new pcm in.

yeh not every PCM works tho. Some of them will not let the dash function so be careful with that.
Call up swamps diesel and ask them. They will sell you one with a warranty and all at a reasonable rate. I deal with them a lot PM me if you need the number. |

maybe what i really need is the actual ford part number for a pcm that has a DAC3 program on it. It sounds like the one i would want, however i don't know what the actual number is to look it up at salvage yards or online. I am not real sure?
