really haveing a hard time figuring out if i have an E99 or later

12/98
has E99 air box
has square U-bolts
has 7.3 cover that says powerstroke 7.3


Has an intake heater



I can't figure out how to tell what turbo is on it.. I looked on here for a couple hours at what other people said and nothing was real clear..

Any other idea's on how to tell what motor i have???

How big is the turbo? What size are the intake runners from the turbo Y pipe to the heads? 2" or 3" daim? If there's 3 to 4" of space above your turbo and the cowling/back of the hood area, it's the smaller, early turbo. If there's about an inch or 2, it's the bigger, later turbo... If you got the AIH, I'd guess you got the bigger turbo... to me sounds like someone stuck an older air box in there for ya... What I don't know is how to tell if you have the 15 or 17 degree HPOP. Injectors might be diffrent too...

look at the sticker on the driver side valve cover. if its build date there was before 99 then its early.

sounds early to me. does your cruise control light come on when you use cc?

look at post #45 on page 5 on the sticky thread above. there is a pic showing both early and late 99 turbos, then you can compare. but with an intake heater and 3 inch plenums, you have a late 99 motor in your e99. i believe december was the cutoff for the motors and march was for the suspension. everything else was blended in.
