Am I stupid or what?

My E- brake cable broke at the foot control. I type in emergency brake, emergency brake cable,parking brake,parking brake cable, replace...etc. into the search and nothing about that comes up in post or threads.
how do I find this information??
My truck is an early 99 and I don't know how to get the cables apart.
