I am going to install a 6" lift on my truck, I ultimately would like to run some military surplus tires.
1. Where do you guys get your extended brake lines at? They seem difficult to find, decently priced. Do places like napa have them?
2. Any clue what backspacing is needed to run a 37" tire, At full lock now my 33" tires about touch my leaf springs.
3. Any route that might be cheaper than military surplus tires? And still get a decent 37"? After shipping and custom wheels it will cost me around $1100 for 4 wheels and tires shipped to me. But then the next set of tires will only be about $500.
There is a bunch of suppliers out there just have to google.
As for Military tires, think about this, the military goes with lowest bidder. Being a diesel Mechanic for 7 years in the Marines. I would never run Military tires on my truck.
In fact I know for fact some units have put Super Swampers on there Hummvees. Because the Good Years just plain Suck.
Thanks for the responses, one more question I forgot to ask. In the morning when I start my truck I always wait for the "wait to start" light, after driving it awhile, if I just run into a store and come back out I don't wait for the "wait to start" light, because for some reason If i wait for the wait to start light, it won't turn over, I then have to wait a few seconds, then wait for the wait to start light again. Sort of like this
1. Morning - wait to start OK
2. After sitting a short while - no wait to start. OK
or
1. Morning - Wait to start OK
2. After sitting a short while - Wait to start WON'T START
2. wait a few seconds - wait to start OK
Not sure if that's the way it's suppose to be or not, but that's how it is right now. The thing that got to me was the other night I had to tow my parent's chevy home, I got it in their driveway, shut my truck off, then saw I needed to pull up more. Jumped in the truck, turned the key and it just cranked. Waited a few seconds, waited for wait to start, and it just cranked again. Waited a while, tried again - nothing. Eventually it started, I don't know after how many times.
