Turbo lag question

Okay, I have an early 99 that I have upgraded to the late 99+ turbo setup. The turbo has a 1.0 ATS housing, gutted EBVP and the wicked wheel upgrade. I also have the DP Tuner, Banks Ram Air filter and 17* HPOP. The problem I have is that the turbo will not start spooling until about 2K RPMS. It pours black smoke until the turbo kicks in around 2K and then it really takes off. Is there a way to get the turbo to spool around 1500 RPMS? Do I need upgraded injectors, ECU, IDM???

I think you need more fuel. Have you had your DP tuner re-tuned since you switch out turbos?

If its "pouring" black smoke its got enough fuel. But get some different or newer tuning and see.

Yes my bad, I actually overlooked the black smoke issue. What they said should do the trick.
