early 99 wastegate

i was looking to purchase a new waste gate.people say take off the red line to the wastegate and it will work the same as a aftermarket on is that true?

You can take the red wire off your turbo, but it wont be the same as running a aftermarket turbo. it will give you a lil more boost and itll pull a lil harder. FWIW i would just buy a aftermarket wastegate. the springs on the stock wastegates get weak after time and it allows the wastegate to blow open early before you reach optimum pressure. also by upgrading your wastegate you can control your boost pressure. but remember boost dosent equal power. just my .02
