Since the early99 has the WW in it from the factory, surge is not so easy. Notice I did not say impossible, just not so easy.

In a late99 and up without a WW, you are asking for problems.

I have a Ported Turbo Housing on order. had one on my 2000 and it worked great. I have had to slowly mod my 2002. It surged big time over the weekend. I would just back off and it would go away. I towed with it and LOVED it. that custom TW 6-pos is great!

Well, i guess my biggest concern was wether it was the tune or something else thats just more noticable while running the tune. I dont know what it could be, but wanted some input.

My early 99 does the same thing. Never had any issue till I opened up the airbox and added the dp tuner. Have takled with lots of "experts" and they all say its unusual for an early 99 to do it BUT nothing will fix it w/o replacing the turbo, up-pipes and pedestal with ones from a late 99 or newer.

Welcome to my delema...............

Talk to Jody, I bet he can get it to stop surging.

And if you think swapping to the late99 turbo setup will fix everything, think again. It would be worse that what you have now in stock form, that is why they sell ATS housings and wicked wheels.

You are correct. I ment to have that in there on the ported housing. That was the reason for going to the later set-up.

I thought I asked Jody about this but loooking back on the emails now it was about programs and EGT temps. Cant belive I did not ask him. I had extensive discussions with Dennis at ITP Diesel about it along with some diesel guys here locally. Im droping Jody a note now.

Well, was bored in the garage tonight and decided to investigate the situation further. Seems the inlet hose to the turbo has dry rotted or something and split about 2 inches across on the back side. Not sure if this is whats causing the problems, but i know it aint helping. Got one on order and will let you guys know the verdict once its here and in. Thanks for all your input so far. Much appreciated and its why i joined this site.

Aight, All back together. Took it for a test drive, and noticed that the crispness is back. Sounds a lot more quiet. Not sure how its gonna do with some weight behind it though, but should do better judging by the difference ive noticed. I wonder what cause that hose to split like that though.

The hose your reffering to is the 3" from the air filter?
