ggagues installed but no boost at idle

OK, strange question............should I show boost on my gague at idle? How about when in park but reving the engine? Only comming up to about 20 on the gague when I get into it on the road then let off the pedal and it gies back to 0.
I had to use a splicer and extra tubing to hook it up.....no leaks there but would the restriction have anything to do with it? Tee is in the map sensor hose. Maybe a bad gague?
Never had a boost gague before so not sure what to expect.
Thanks

No your boost wont show at idle or park/nutral no matter how much you rev it. I think for a 7.3 that sounds about normal.

You wont see any boost at idle nor will you likely see it reving in neutral. At WOT it should be around 23 - 27ish.

The 20psi was with my 80hp economy dp tune. Did not want to run it in the 120 race or 140 extreme untill I found out if the gague is good or not. So whats the reason the engine builds no boost on park or neutral? Just curious......

BTW....Thanks for all the fast replys....Much appricated.

ok....guess it makes sense. Needs the backpressure of the resistance of moving the truck I guess. I will run it in the other tunes tommorow and see what the presure is. Is 20 real low for the economy tune? The truck will MOVE its A.S for sure. Day and night difference over stock. Can hit 80 mph in no time.
