Testing Water Pump

I'm about to drain my coolant and fill up with Evans NPG coolant. I'm replacing the thermostat to the 203, new thermostat housing, new upper and lower radiator hoses, and a coolant filter. I have about 173,000 and figure if I'm going to the Evans I'll never have to do anything but change the coolant filter now and then. Is there any way to tell how much life my water pump has left in it?

I was also checking replacement pumps out at Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto, and the prices vary greatly. Here's a link:
RockAuto Parts Catalog
Eastern Industries-$93.79
Cardone Select-$108.79
A1 Cardone-$86.79 plus $35 core charge
Motorcraft-$245.79
Bosch-$130.79
AC Delco-$222.79

Are aftermarket parts junk?
