Loud popping....must be exhaust related

i have a early 99 psd and i was just coming down a hill and my truck started popping really loud and sounded like the down pipe came loose from something.

i looked at it and didn't see anything loose from anything, pre or post turbo. i was still getting boost so i'm assuming my turbo didn't sieze or anything.

exhaust gasket? can't really think of anything else..

Does it still do it?
Is it making the sound both sitting still and while driving?
Is the sound directly related to engine rpm and not truck speed?
