2003 E350 - advice buying used?

Hello everyone,
Friend is looking a 2003 E350 diesel. I know on dodges you can do something wtih the key / something else that will tell you on the dash the hours of running (on time for motor) as well as tell you any stored codes.

Does ford vans have this option?

Any thoughts on what we can check / look at to make sure it is a healthy engine?

No "flashing light" like the Dodge, you need a professional scanner to be useful.

Next, in an '03, there are 2 engines a WORLD apart. The 7.3 and the 6.0 and that would be the Most important thing to consider. Go to the respective forums below by engine size...

Thanks - it is a 7.3L which is why he is interested. He has a 2001 E350 w/ 7.3L with high miles. Looking to buy a lower mileage van and still get the 7.3L engine.

I found a site that confirms the year and 7.3L engine but does not give me any options / rear end ratio. Is there a site out there that gives this information based on a VIN or not?

Any mods / improvements you guys would suggest? it already had the cam position sensor recall / TSB performed per carfax

GOOD!

Have a look at the 7.3 Forums, don't miss this -> http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/7-3...99-03-psd.html

See if the VIN info can be found here -> Use your VIN number to get Ford Window Sticker

Had my uncle look at this van in Texas and clearly had more miles than the odometer says. I feel bad for the guy on ebay that bought it
