Amsoil questions

First off, let me say this site is awesome, been reading for a while, lots of great info, first post.

Here's my problem. I have an 02 E350, 4x4, 7.3 with a superchip tuner, amsoil 15w40. Recently I was driving on the highway, temps around 85, hilly terrain, while cresting a long hill the CEL came on and shortly the truck lost power. I pulled off the road and the truck idled rough and I shut it off for a little bit. After 15 minutes I started it up and the same rough idle. I plugged in the tuner and pulled a P1211 code. After sitting for 2 hours and a 1 hour tow the truck started and ran fine. I called my brother, a GM mechanic, who researched the problem. What he found was that the oil foamed and possibly affected the fuel injection. He suggested I change to regular dino asap. I changed the oil and didn't have any problems on the return trip or since then.

Has anyone had this problem and what are the fixes if I want to continue to run amsoil?

Stevek, I seriously doubt its the oil that is causing your problems. I've run hundreds of thousands of miles on both gas and deisel vehicles, 2 wheel and 4 wheel vehicles using AMSOIL. Never had any issues with it. I believe its the best oil on the market.

Did you put any additives in with your Amsoil, like Lucas? Someone posted on here a while back showing what some of these additives do in oil and it made the oil foam pretty good.........I'm sure there will be someone else along here shortly with more knowledge than me, so here's a free...

I know that when I buy AMSOIL from the local dealer, he specifically states NOT TO ADD any additives. Thats one reason I run AMSOIL because I dont have to add any aftermarket stuff to it.

The GM mechanic is an idiot. The p1211 code is ICP above or below desired levels. Caused by the change ICP demands from your superchips tuner. Absolutely nothing to do with your oil

the problem is not your oil, if it did this after a long pull you have low fuel pressure , the filters in the tank are clogged , which will set a p1211, vans are real bad for that

I did not use any additives when changing to Amsoil. I've had the superchips tuner in for a while and have never had this problem before, it just seemed kinda odd that it happened after I changed to Amsoil. I changed back to regular oil and haven't had this problem since. Thanks for the help!
