I just did my alt in my 06 6.0 E350
if you are staring at the front of the engine it is at about 730 oclock. I was able to get a breaker bar on the tensioner but couldnt get the "swing" i needed without loosening up the shroud. I did not remove the fan, just the 4 bolts that hold the shroud to the engine.
Take the time to spin all idler pulleys, etc to check for a bad bearing on one.
Replace the fuel filter while you're there, unless it is brand new.
