looking at an E350 ambulance

I'm in a bit of a unique situation and want to get some feedback -

I'm an expat living abroad in Saudi Arabia. I need a strong vehicle to haul more than one ton on a daily basis. I came across a 2002 7.3 van ambulance with only 75k miles on it, its a 4x4, excellent shape. they are asking 8000$ for it.

the problem is here that the parts are no longer stocked by the dealers after 10 years. the only parts readily available would be from junk yards. fortunately I found another complete one being sold for parts. what i'm thinking is to buy all the parts that are likely to go bad right away so as to have them on hand down the line.

so, what i need to know:

1. is this a good/wise purchase?

2. exactly which parts should i purchase in advance? (transmission, turbo,cpa..)

3. which parts are cross-compatible with later models, and hence still available at the dealer?

4. Theres a bit of smoke or vapors continuously ofting out the oil fill spout. not puffing. is this an issue?

one other important thing to mention.

around 250 days out of the year the temp outside is 100+ degrees.

that likely has a bearing on some parts more than others...
