help for turbo upgrade

Could use some help on a 1999 (early build novemer 1998) ford E-350 7.3 diesel superduty van. I am looking to upgrade turbo but was told there is nothing available for the early build models, I was told I might be able to make upgrade it to a late 99. The problem is you would have to change a bunch of parts (exhaust pipes,pedistal and other parts) to make this work (I have been told there is a kit but it is for a truck,might work might not,clearance problems). I am courious as to wether or not anyone else has done this or has any experience with this? Maybe someone else has come across this same problem? Thank you
