96 E350 15 pass 225,00 miles and I get to pull the trans again (third time in 3 months). Looking at 4wd conversion and sled pulling.

Well, I finally did it. I ordered a new van this week. The old gal, 2003, 7.3that I'm driving is just getting too tired (but not thr drivetrain). I just can't justify thr cost of replacing the front suspension, steering box, and some other minor repairs. Today, I'll turn 777,777 miles on the odometer. By the time the new on comes in I'll be close to 800,000. I'm sorry to say I did not order another diesel. The higher cost of thr 6.0 ($7300), and the higher cost of fuel are just not worth it anymore. I will miss the mileage though. I'll still be checking back on this forum but not as much. I have a wealth of knowledge about the 7.3 Van I can share with you. Wish all of you thr best.

Jim

Jim
What are you doing with your old van? I might be interested if you are selling it.

I have a custom expeditor setup inside the van. I be removing the sleeper, bulkhead and panels before I trade it in on the new van. The dealer is giving me a fair price on the trade so I won't be selling it. Besides, I would hate to sell a vehicle with that type of mileage. The van is worn out...

That's cool. I was more interested in it for parts more than anything.

Jim, did you ever do any towing with your 7.3 van? If so, how much weight did you tow? With all those miles on your van what drivetrain parts have you replaced over the years? Thanks in advance for your reply.

No, I never did any towing at all, but did haul a lought of freight ranging from 500 lbs to 3000 lbs. The only real drivetrain issue were the u-joints. They are too small for the van. Below is a copy of a worksheet that lists every part replaced on the van and the mileage when changed. The only exceptions are lightbulbs, wiper blades, filters and fluids. You can see it was a good one.

Mileage Description of Repair
149621 Brakes (Rear)
149755 Vacuum Pump
186344 Battery
214257 Tires
236339 Brakes (Front)
