Battery location for a 98 Ford diesel van

I have a 98 Ford E350 Van. I've changed out the battery under the hood but how can I get to the one under the passenger seat? Please don't tell me that I have to remove the carpet to reveal an access panel. Wal-Mart gave up trying and sent me packing. My email is mnewby@yahoo.com

Its not under the seat. Its mounted to the chassis under the van on the passenger side. You unbolt it and it will hang on two cables to replace.
