2002 E350 7.3 Towing 12 K Do I need to run with overdrive off? With overdrive on, over 70 miles trans temp runs between 170 and 190. Is this ok? Thanks

If you are running totally flat ground I feel it's ok to run in Overdrive, but if there are any hills, etc... Overdrive should be off!!

trans slipping

2002 4r100 pulling 12k trailer, trans seems to be slipping when it kicks out of overdrive or when I turn overdrive off. Not sure because I do not have a tach but It makes louder than normal spinning sound. didnt start until about 4 hours into a trip. trans temp never went over 190. I could power though it sometimes.
trans fluid is clean and doesnt have burnt smell. almost sounds as though it is going down to 2nd gear. Help?

overdrive won't go off

3 weeks ago I bought a '02 f-250, my first diesel. Took me about a week to get used to the glowplugs before starting up. Just noticed a couple days ago the overdrive button to click off overdrive doesn't work, everything seems fine tho', no problems or noises. But I wonder if there is a fuse for the overdrive button that blew. Looked in the manual but can't find a fuse listed for that. Anyone have any ideas. Thanx in advance.

Have mine in the Tranny shop right now for the same reason,Tech found a snap ring that holds what I would call a servo plate for the over-drive was off.My truck wasn't pulling at the time it started the problem, just running it hard.Acted like it came out of over-drive ,but when i slowed down ,saw that beepbthe O.D. was still off.I tried the button and the tranny shifted out of O.D.The tech told me that this plate/servo I call it, will reposition its self until under a load agian.I tried like hell to get to do it again, but couldn't.Truck only has 88,000 on it,but I wanted to know what was up and to upgrade-T.C. valve body and eletronics.I went ahead with a Banks 6 gun and I'm adding a tran-temp gage also.Good luck with yours, mine should be out Wednesday.Mike
