6.0 versus V10
I am interested in purchasing a 2007 sportsmobile conversion 4x4 but am hesitant about the bad press that the 6.0 has received. Can anyone offer a suggestion or comment in regard to the the 6.0 and reliability etc...? I would consider a newer V10 but I am more focused on a diesel at this point. How about a NEW diesel from Ford that can fit the vans... any word on this?

6.0 needs some supporting mods to make it a reliable truck.
Depending on what year it is.. A good coolant flush with an egr delete and new oil cooler is a good start. I would hook up a monitoring device and see what the ECT and EOT deltas are. |

Is there a generally acceptable EGR delete kit or process? I have heard this before. Please excuse my ignorace, but what are the delta values you recommended?

Complete EGR Delete Kits for Ford Diesel Trucks Anywhere from 1-9* delta is acceptable, anything higher and it is a sign of the oil cooler plugging. The oil cooler has small holes that run through the oil cooler. Coolant flows through these holes and cools the oil. You can dig in hard and do head studs and what not but I personally think the mods needed for a 2007 sportsmobile conversion would just be a GOOD coolant flush (there is a link in one of the links I provided) and a EGR delete kit and it makes it reliable. -NEVER USE FORD GOLD COOLANT, USE AN ELC rated coolant. -NEVER USE ANY AFTERMARKET FILTERS, FORD ONLY Things to consider about owning a 6.0L Write Up: Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L PSD.
