Ambulance frame width

My x ambulance E350 has a 42' frame width. The guy at the welding shop thought 38 was standard for most trucks of that era. I have looked around at bolt on receiver hitches and most say they will fit a 95 E350 but I don't know if they will bolt up to the wider frame. Most don't give dimensions in online adds and I have no confidence in the guy at Farm and Fleet. Any advice is appreciated. I really need a hitch.

I have a 2006 ambulance frame and a 2003 frame that had a 14 ft. box on it both are E450 and both are 42 inch frames. If that helps ya any. any good hitch shop or good welding shop should be able to help ya.

So how wide is your frame? What kind of hitch and where did you get it?
