Lost all oil in my 7.3
Hi All - new to the forum and hoping I could get some advice. 4 weekes ago I purchased my first diesel - a 2001 E350 7.3 L Powerstroke box truck with 133k miles.
I hadn't driven it in a couple of weeks so took it out. As I was accelerating onto a busy road, I heard a thud. I thought something had fallen in the box. I accelerated down the road, and about a 1/4 mile later, my "Service Engine Light Soon" light came on. As I pulled up to to a traffic light, the engine stalled completely and wouldn't restart.
I got out of the truck and looked under to see a huge puddle of oil. Furthermore, there was a slick of oil on the road back to where I heard the thud.
I'm sick thinking I blew the motor. How can I tell if it's a blown motor or something less severe? I've been searching the forum and have found some discussions on the HPOP leaking. I'm hoping since I was able to accelerate after the thud, my engine insn't blown. Any advice?
