no code driveability

The same 99 E350 7.3L with a no codes. This piece runs like garbage. No power, blows white fuel smelling smoke, uses too much fuel and dies. The engine will only produce about 2000 rpm and acts as if its loading up. Fuel pressure at heads is 70 psi. NO CODES! Nobody responded to my last post, so I thought I would reword it.

sorry about no one responding. some times it's so busy around here post's get over looked. just a shot in the dark but try a fuel filter. i think the fuel pressure should only be 55 psi if no one has messed with the regulator. even shimmed it shouldn't be more then 65. white smoke is water being burned. you may have alot of water in the fuel. hopfuly some will come along and give thier $0.02

Have you tried an injector buzz and cylinder contribution test?

All tests were run as far as the computer goes. No codes. The customer did put gasoline in the tank, but it has long ago been replaced with fuel. At the head the fuel pressure will bounce around 70 psi. Is 70psi too much? I really think it is fuel related. I have always thought that it was getting too much. How can I check the regulator? The fuel filter is new.

does the fuel pressure stay in that range while you're driving it? I had a problem with mine a while back...would lose power big time..literally could not turn the wheels over..turned out to be sediment in the fuel take would plug up the intake screen.

white smoke can be too much fuel also.

I also had algae in my tank which caused these symptoms. Have the garage put a restriction Gage on the fuel line between the tank and the fuel pump. It should not pull any more than 5 pds of restriction. If it does have more than that then there is your problem.R/R and have filter in tank and tank washed out with soap and water. Make sure all are removed then put tank back in. Good Luck

Also algae in the tank will pull no codes as it is not sensored in the fuel line.

white smoke in a 7.3 would be fuel smoke , sounds to me like the copper o-ring on the bottom of one of your injectors is missing , causing major excessive fuel loss , compression going around that injector may cause your fuel readings to be slightly higher than normal at idle , you should be able to tell the engine is skipping, a cylinder contribution test should pinpoint you to the culprit injector and cylinder, by the way , anytime i have a bad running problem with no codes, its usually fuel related , you are geting u nburned fuel into the cylinder which is causin your white smoke

White smpke typically is from moisture in the fuel. is this a trucj you just got or have you had it for a while. you me be stuck redoing the whole fuel system. draining it and new pump filter and injector. start w the least expensive and do a process of elimination.

white smoke in a 7.3 is not from water in the fuel, it is from excessive fuel regardless what people think , everybody thinks black smoke is overfueling , black smoke is partially burnt fuel , white smoke is so much fuel that it isnt burning any of it and is alost to hydrolock condition , ask any other tech on this website, white smoke in a gas engine yes can be water , and a 6.o when the egr cooler is blown out
