I ran 255/85R16's, they are about 32.5-33" tall. odometer was off right at 4% according to the dyno. I just put on a set of 305/85R16 buckshots. they are 36.5 tall, 10 ply, rated for about 3400lbs single, 3000lbs dual. they will fit without a spacer but will rub at the bottom, I have 3" spacers on it right now, but need to get some narrower ones. odometer is off 15% now according to 100 miles on the highway mileposts. I have 4.10's, it dropped my cruise rpm about 350, fuel mileage came up some, not sure how much yet. i have about 7 inches of lift, and they don't rub in the front at full lock. |

yes people do it all the time, but I HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST IT... if you want a larger tire you need to buy a larger wider wheel... the crowning effect that you see causes a lot of stress and heat build up in the tire which causes uneven wear, and the heat can cause a blow out... you can also get stress cracks in the tires which can also lead to blow outs.... it is not a good idea... stay with a narrow tire or go to www.dieselwheels.com or American Force, Big Dually Wheels and Rims -- Custom Dually Wheels For Big Trucks if you want to put a larger tire on the truck.... they also sell the spacers that you will need to accomodate the larger wider tires

I'm running Buckshot mudders, 305/85R16 10 plys. They are radials, and rated at a little over 3,000 lbs per tire. they advertise and market them for duallys. it's about 11" wide, 36.5 tall. I was getting a bit of wear on the inner and outer lugs on the fronts, but the truck is a 99 and I still had all the original front end parts, and it had never been aligned since I got it new. the rears are wearing perfect. I've got about 10k on then so far, they take alot of weight to balance, but they ride pretty good, and are real nice in corners when loaded, no sway or wander.
I have 3" spacers in the rear, they are too big (I was going to run 12.50's, decided not to on the stock rims) 2" would be about right. I want to step up to the 22.5's, so I'm going to run it as is until then. I ordered mine from National Tire and Wheel, (800)847-3287 I paid $243 each plus shipping. I've ordered 4 or 5 set of tires from them over the years, and always had good service from them. Before these, I had 255/85R16's, they are just under 33" tall, and will fit and not rub without spacers |
