First off, I am not a mechanic, I just have my experiences. When I had an injector go bad my truck started blowing some white smoke. As I continued to drive it, it got darker and darker. It was blowing a lot, enough to cloud a street. Hope yours is an easy inexpensive fix.

it could be the high pressure turbo shaft broken sending oil into the exhaust,or an injector, could also be a bad particulate filter

I'm really not trying to be funny..........but your up in Canada and it's cold up there. Are you sure it's not just cold exhaust? diesels blow white exhaust when it's cold out.
