Biggest tire

What's the widest 17 in tire that will fit a without problems or needing spacer? Currently I have 16 inch rims stock width tires but plan on putting 17 inch alcoas, but want a wider tire, not taller .

What do you plan on doing about the steel wheels? I do not think anyone makes a 17in steel wheel with the 8x170 bolt pattern unless its custom.
You cannot go much wider than stock without a spacer. Plus I dont think you can get much wider without going taller. Maybe a 10.5 wide tire. The 16in version I believe is the 265 iirc.

I'm sure others with more experience will chime in to help

Widest I'm familiar with here is running 265/70R17 without the need for any spacer, and not affecting your ability to tow at full capacity. Basically the same height as the stock 245/75R17s from the '05+ DRW trucks.

I have 265/70/17's and I would not want to try 285's without a spacer. would actually rather try a 255/80/17's, a little narrower but taller.
