To 6.9 or not to 6.9
Ok I have the option to get an 85 4 door dually with a 6.9L and a Banks turbo setup. The price is perfect and so is the body style but....... I had an 03 f-250 with the 6.0 and it was a turd...... always breaking down and crappin out on me so I finally had to "take it to a farm in the country."
My question is, are the 6.9's better motors? Reliability and mod. wise. Any input you guys can give me would be great, I don't know to many Diesel guys and the ones that I do know drive Dodges w/6cyl...... wimps. |

Yea they are but you could get a 7.3 which still isn't as complicated as a 6.0 but has more power than a 6.9.

The 6.9 is as reliable as gravity and has all the mechanical simplicity of a hammer. You won't see much over 200 horsepower though. However, properly maintained, a minimum of 500,000 is not out of the question.

not to 6.9
nothing but underpowered noise makers IMO get a 12v if you want an old reliable |

a 7.3 would be a better option but the 6.9 is reliable its just slow.
