08 front axle (d60) and 02 rear (d80)
Looking to put either a locker or a trutrac in the new to me front axle...(putting an 08 in my '02) and original rear ('02 D80). They both have stock 4.10 gears.
Trying to find out what spline count it is. I see on parts web sites, 35 or 37... I am weary of going with the tru trac, because I am running (or shortly will be) 37's. Tru trac doesnt recommend anything over 35's. Well, heck, I am trying to figure out what to through in the rear as well. I was going to go trutrac front and rear, then thought arb ($$$ ouch)...but dont like the idea of having open rear diff all of the time. I use it for DD as well as overland trips, up to the mountains in snow and ice... BTW, its been converted to SRW...but kept the axles. Any recommendations on top of the spline counts would be appreciated! |

Anyone crack open an 02 D80? Happen to know if its 35 or 37?

did you only use the '08 center section with your '02 outer knuckles? Spacers in the rear to match the track width? Just wondering... or is the dually rear wider than the SRW?

for the stearling there was some spew that the 250 is 35 and the 350 is 37 and it is written that way in some literature but i can't see the reasoning to add 2 splines and having all those extra parts in inventory //
not sure on the D80 because your correct I see there were two axle sizes and spline counts Last edited by ZMANN; 04-22-2012 at 07:01 AM. |

I believe the spline count in the drw D80 is 37.

I am running the full stock rear D80 from the 2002, and a 2008 D60 up front. They are almost the same. The D80 is still about a 1/2 inch wider on each side than the 08 D60...Close enough where you really would have to know to look for it.
