Dually Lug Nuts?

Alright so if you own a dually obviously you know that our lug nuts have a washer thing on the end of them that makes them flat versus being tapered inwards like normal lugs.
-What purpose does this being flat serve?
-Is it absolutely necessary to run those lugs on a dually?
-If not what am I risking if I ran normal ones?

My oem lug nuts are the same as u r talking about. Typically the concave ones are to center the wheel (lug centric wheel) and the flat ones used I think on all oem ford sd wheels are for hub centric wheels.
