Free tune or not???
A buddy of mine bought a wrecked 02 PSD w the 7.3 and he called tonight to tell me it had a superchips programmer under the seat and I could borrow it if I wanted to.He said it wasnt vin locked because he has used it on his sons 01.
I am wanting a DP or TW tuner, but after paying for the truck and buying a new(to us) camper I'm short on funds. The SC programmer has a tow settin which is what I'm wanting.I have been reading up on the chips and tuners and if I read it right the SC programmers and chips are harder on the trans than a multi position tuner like a DP or Tony Wildman unit. What everybodys thoughts on this??? A free tune sounds good but not at the expense of a 3-4K $$$ trans. The truck is a 01 CC 2wd dually w 145K,3:73's and the 4r100 trans.Completely stock except straight exhaust. |

In my opinion, you need gauges, DIY intake, and straight pipe no matter what tune you run... so you're only left with the tuner... I say wait for the DP tuner, no risk to trans...
