4 wheel drive

i have a 2000 f250 with the 7.3. tonight i went to pull two of my buddies out of the mud/snow. after i had hooked up to him i engaged the 4-wheel drive. as i was pulling him out they thought i was in 2- wheel drive because i was spinning and they said that only the rear tires were moving. i disengaged everything and then re-ingaged and it was still doing the same thing. i was still able to get them out but know i am wondering what is wrong the 4-wheel drive. it doesn't make any grinding noises or anything when it engages and the lights on the dash come on so i thought it was working. any help on where to start would be great. thanks.

2 questions... have you made sure your hubs are on lock? and pull off your dash and make sure the connection is engaged on the 4x4 switch... i took my truck to the dealer for something and they took off the dash and had forgoten to hook that switch back up so when i tried to go mudding i was stuck until i figured it out......

i have heard about the cold before, but the temp. here has been between 20 and 30 for the last week or so. so i don't think that is what is causing it.

do you think its something related with the TC or maybe the hubs? like do you feel it go into gear when you put it in 4wd ? im just shooting ideas out or in this case questions so that maybe someone else can answer them.....im more in line thinking its your hubs.....well because of that malfunction of the hubs leaking water in it and with the freezing temperatures the water freezes and expands inside the hub.....

you might want to take it to a shop because if it is that thats malfunctioning it would have to be taken appart to check.... if it is your better off upgrading to warn premium hubs.....
