04 Rearend Fluid

Hi all. I have a 04 SD with LS and it recently hit 100K miles. I wanted to change the fluid in it but I keep hearing I need to add friction modifier to the oil. I've been reading up on it and some people say not to add it unless you need it. I was going to use either Mobil1 or Motorcraft 75w-140 for the change. Thank you in advance for your opinions and help!

You have to add it unless the oil you use already has an additive in it.

I haven't bought the oil yet. Which ones have it in it? Thanks!

Motorcraft doesn't because you have to buy the friction modifier separate. I think Royal Purple does and Valvoline has a synthetic gear oil that does. It should say in the bottle if it already has additives.
